NY Fashion Week Day #1

Day 1 of New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 trend:
skin and sex.

The most prevalent themes amongst the designers. Planet Style saw three shows today at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tents: Duckie Brown, Ports 1961, and Rosa Cha.

Duckie Brown

Who said your grandpa’s style is old and outdated? Duckie Brown’s collection has reinvented your old man’s wardrobe with a slight flair to it. The designer’s Spring 2010 look consisted of grandpa cardigans, blazers along with sheer and transparent neutral colored t-shirts ending it with loin cloths. Sex and skin still sells in today’s economy.

Ports 1961

If you know of Tia Cibani, she is quite the cosmopolitan and loves it. Cibani, in the past, has been inspired by her chosen place of travel however, this season she ditched that formula and took on a general one: Japanese and Nature, titled—the Fluere.

Cibani chose Japanese culture as a point of reference from kimonos to cherry blossom as shown on her prints and shapes. Her color palette ranged from pale pastels and some with a spark of pinky peach and bright red to keep things lively. Sheer, metallic, prints, and minimalism are some words that envelop her whole collection.

Rosa Cha

When you want to look chic and sexy like a Brazilian and absolutely adored because of your poolside outfits, please shop Rosa Cha. Alexandre Herchcovitch, designer of Rosa Cha, is the Brazilian man behind the beautiful, fun pieces. The Spring 2010 collection was filled with a whimsical twist on 1950s inspired swimsuit silhouettes. From colorful head wraps to bug-eyed sunglasses to bright bangles everything 50s!
